When ancient Italy pulls them back in time, dark secrets are revealed.

All can be conquered. But will it be? Can wrongs be made right? History is the locked door. Forgiveness is the key. Time will tell if ancient love can once again flourish.

Interview:
 1.     Where did you get the idea for the novel?

It actually came to me after I wrote the first book in the Forsaken Brethren Series, Darkest Memory. In it, Alexandria is sister to the hero, Gabriel and best friend to his heroine Calah. I enjoyed her character so much that I decided she deserved her own story in Heart of Vesuvius.

2.     Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?

I came up with the title based on one of the main settings in the book. The title has always been the same.

3.     Which came first, the title or the novel?

I had already written half the story when the perfect title occurred to me.

4.     Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?

I would have to say hitting #49 in the paid Kindle store a few days ago with my MacLomain Series Boxed set. It was a pretty fun feeling hitting the top 50!

5.     What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I’m currently reading Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I’m a huge fan of the TV series, True Blood so decided it was finally time to read the books on which the series is based.

6.     What was your first book that you ever wrote (very first one you wrote, not published)?

*Brace yourself* It was titled Care Bears in Space. I was seven and the first second grader in the state of New Hampshire to win The Young Authors Award. Yep, I still have the book. In fact I recently read it to my seven year old son. Sort of a, “Look at what mom did at your age!” moment combined with a “You can accomplish anything you set your mind to,” message.

7.     What is your writing process?

I’m all about letting the characters lead the way. As long as they show me personal growth as they deal with their conflict, the book seems to write itself. Research is typically done as I write versus before.

  1. Who are your favorite authors of all time?

I have so many favorites! Lisa Kleypas and Christine Feehan are right there at the top though.

9.     At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?

I typically like to use my reader’s name with a brief note then sign.

  1. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Probably that I’m a huge Regency romance fan. Based on what I write, you’d never know it.

11.  How do you react to a bad review?

As a writer, I’m also a business woman. If the review touches on a genuine problem with my work, I pay attention. After all, mistakes can be made.

12.  How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

With my family. They’ve been my rock since the very beginning so I couldn’t imagine celebrating with anyone else!

I really enjoyed this interview. Thanks!

Excerpt:
Salvator smiled, white teeth gleaming through the darkness, midnight hair brushing his shoulders. "Now that is where you are wrong." When he stood, she instinctually shifted back against the headboard. "Clothing never suited you."

Her nudity suddenly felt underused and sumptuous. The thin sheet and velvet blanket like a caress of pure perfection. As he slowly approached her thighs spread, welcoming. She slammed them shut and refused to scowl.

Salvator dripped seduction. He walked it, breathed it, spoke it.

She knew better.

"Shhh," he whispered. His finger trailed up the bedspread, skimmed along her thigh, hip, waist, until it left and returned to his side. "I will not seduce you…yet."

For a split second, Alex almost said, "Why not?" She caught her tongue. Ancient vampires were very good at what they did and Salvator ranked amongst one of the eldest. But she had grown. After all, she had been made eight hundred years ago. Though not one of the more powerful of her breed she'd paid attention and learned.

"I demand respect. I'm old enough to request such," she said. His olive-skinned hand clenched and pulled tighter against his side. She met him eye to eye, did not shy away from his abnormally pale bluish-gray gaze as she had in the past. He was to fear, respect and worship. Tall and broad shouldered, inherently smooth, he owned a room when he entered it.

He had owned her once, almost.

Not now.

With a flick of his wrist, she felt the weight of clothing comfort her skin. Salvator hadn't lent glamour to it to purposely arouse her. He had honored the way of the vampires. In many ways she was shocked he had lent his aide to her at all. But he hadn't really. He had lent it to Gabriel, for purposes of his own. Though she would like to say Salvator was different than most vampires, he wasn't. There had to be a method to his madness.

She guessed vengeance.

Alex swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood. This put the top of her head at his shoulders. "You could have dressed me in something more acceptable."

Shifting slightly, he cornered her between the bed and night table. "Consider yourself lucky you are dressed at all."

She eyed the flaming red, form fitting, silk gown minus undergarments and muttered, "Barely."

Lightning fast, his hands lay on both sides of her waist. His imposing frame was far too close, beautifully proportioned face bent. Long, thick black lashes framed his icy eyes.

"You sought my protection. Your insolence incites me." His hands squeezed. "To not grant you the respect you feel due you."

Did he still think her the quivering novice? She would not pay him an unwarranted price for his shelter. She'd not be his whore.

With all of her power, she shot one hand forward. He fell back a few inches. Alex waited calmly for the expected counterattack, for it would be swift without doubt. Instead of the wallop she deserved for attacking an elder she witnessed an oddity.

He smiled and said, "You've changed, uccellino. You are no longer a cowering beginner."

Super Dark is a seductive love story that will keep you guessing right until the final page.

Interview:
  1. Where did you get the idea for the novel?
I came up with the story about two years ago. There was an article in the newspaper about a little girl who was snatched by a midwife and taken to live in with a strange family for years before being reunited with her parents. I was fascinated and wanted to explore the impact that sort of tragedy would have on a family. The whole trilogy took me about eight months to write. I did a lot of planning beforehand so the story had been swimming around in my head for about a year before I actually started writing it. I’ve always wanted to do a trilogy and experiment with different genres and saw this as the perfect opportunity. I wrote book one as an urban thriller, book two as a gothic romance and book three as a Roman noir. All the same characters feature in each book, but you will probably notice a change of tone within the stories—something I did on purpose to ramp up the tension.

  1. Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
Originally, I wanted to call the story Bonded, but I squashed that idea after I checked on Amazon and saw about seven other stories with that title. Not long afterwards, I came up with Super Dark, a slang term meaning ‘to possess dark gothic qualities.’ This perfectly describes the stories I write.

  1. Which came first, the title or the novel?
The novel.

  1. Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
Every time I get an email from a fan telling me they enjoyed my work, it’s the best feeling in the world. Whether you’re read by one or one million, there’s no better feeling for a writer than to be told someone enjoyed your story. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of that.
  1. What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
I just finished reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King and can tell you that after more than thirty years, that man is still on top of his game. I literally lost sleep reading that book. The level of detail was astounding … all that historical research must have taken years and yet the ideas are still so fresh and unique. Definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read.
  1. What was your first book that you ever wrote (very first one you wrote, not published)?
It was called Teddy Monkey and it was about creatures in a magic jungle.

  1. What is your writing process?
I spend a lot of time planning the story first. Including edits, it took me about three months to write Super Dark 1. I don’t usually write so fast but the story had been simmering in my mind for a while, so when I started writing it was just a case of downloading what was already in my head. Also, when I get passionate about my characters I literally write every spare second I have. That helps things to move faster too.

  1. Who are your favorite authors of all time?
I love the classics like Sherlock Holmes and Wuthering Heights, but I am also a bit partial to hard-boiled detective novels from the 1940s. People like Raymond Chandler and James M Cain. Most recently, I really enjoyed reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. That book was truly inspiring.

  1. At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
My stories are only available as ebooks so I haven’t done a signing yet.

  1. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m a big fan of Frank Sinatra.

  1. How do you react to a bad review?
Bad reviews can actually be a good thing. As long as the criticism is constructive, a bad review can often help a writer improve their craft. I don’t get upset about bad reviews because every writer gets them. Not everyone is going to like your story - that’s life, but hey, even Charles Dickens has bad reviews on Amazon.

  1. How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I had a cup of tea and a Mars bar.

Book Tour: A Matter of Circumstance and Celludrones by Claire Robyns Excerpt & Giveaway

BLURB:
A Victorian Steampunk/Paranormal adventure with strong elements of romance...

Lady Lily d'Bulier is prim, proper, and prefers to think of herself as pragmatic rather than timid. And avoiding life-threatening situations at all costs is just plain practical. But everything changes when Lord Adair tracks her down in London; searching for answers he seems to think she has.

Greyston Adair is a blackguard and a smuggler, although British Customs will have to catch him red-handed to prove the latter. Fortunately, the dirigibles they float around in have never been able to get near his air dust.

Hell is rising, One Demon at a Time...

With Lady Ostrich hunting them, and the mystery of how their lives tie back to Cragloden Castle and the powerful McAllister clan, Lily has no option but to throw propriety to the wind and run off with Greyston to Scotland, away from the immediate danger and toward possible answers.

EXCERPT:
Evelyn was even more intrigued when she entered the drawing room. Not only was Lily’s mysterious gentleman the scrumptious Lord Adair from the previous night, but the two of them looked as if they’d been caught in flagrante. Lord Adair’s neck cloth looked as if it had been tied in unseemly haste—by a blind man. Lily’s skirts were scuffed and wrinkled and her bodice wasn’t sitting quite straight.

Lily left his side to meet Evelyn halfway across the room.

“If I’d known you were being ravished by Lord Dashing down here,” Evelyn declared in a whisper, “I would have stayed up there—” she raised her eyes to the ceiling “—another twenty minutes.”

“Don’t be absurd.” Lily’s hands flew to her hair.

“It’s your skirts that need patting down.” She linked her arm in Lily’s and strolled in the direction of Lord Adair, keeping her voice low. “What did he do? Drag you into the woods and toss you over a log?”

Lily went white in the face.

“By God.” Evelyn surged forward. “I’ll deal with the bloody Scotsman.”

“Evie, no, wait.” Lily dug her heels in. “Nothing happened. Must you always latch onto the most preposterous conclusions?”

Evelyn’s brows drew tight. Something felt wrong, but her friend made a valid point. She was rash and brash, a fact she’d never denied. She kept her sharp tongue on a leash and turned a smile on the man instead as they drew close. “How charming, Lord Adair, I was hoping we’d see more of you.”

“Lady Harchings.” He inclined his head in greeting.

Clearly not trusting her to keep the peace, Lily inserted breathlessly, “I was just telling Lady Harchings that we were riding in the park—”

“And your horses tossed both of you?” Evelyn couldn’t resist.

Lily rewarded her with a glare. “We were in Lord Adair’s carriage, but, um, yes, a rabbit or fox must have run across the path because one of the horses took fright—”

“You really should train them better,” Evelyn told him.

“The rabbits or the horses?” Lord Adair riposted dryly, his eyes never leaving Lily and a grin tugging at his mouth.
